Russia slams West over flip-flop policy on ISIL
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has criticized the Western governments for financing ISIL militants in the Middle East and then condemning the terrorists.
According to reports, the United States and five Arab countries - Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Jordan - have carried out at least 200 airstrikes against the ISIL militants operating inside Syria. According to Lavrov, the Western powers claimed that the militancy would die out after the ouster of the governments fighting the militants.
##US bombing Syria to wrest control of oil: Kucinich
Dennis J. Kucinich, former congressman and two-time US presidential candidate, says a primary reason behind the US bombing campaign in Syria is to “wrest control” of the oil fields in the conflict-ravaged country. At the root of this foreign policy, Kucinich explained, was “a neo-con fueled cycle of profits for war makers and destruction of ever-shifting ‘enemies’.”
airstrikes hit ISIL oil sites in Syria
Fresh US airstrikes struck oil refineries and fields used by the ISIL terrorists in Syria, killing 19 people overnight and early Thursday. In addition to the ongoing air raids, the Obama administration has tasked the Pentagon and the CIA with arming and equipping the “moderate” Syrian insurgents to lead the ground war against both ISIL and the government of President Bashar al-Assad. “This attack on Syria, under the guise of striking ISIS, is by definition, a war of aggression. It is a violation of international law. It could lead to crimes against humanity and the deaths of untold numbers of innocent civilians. No amount of public relations or smooth talking can change that,” Kucinich stated.##
